I’ve found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.

Here is the result of a chance that I took one September morning and got lucky.

The story behind this image is that I had no plans to be out in the morning for the photography. I woke up in the middle of the night at around 2am for water. I don’t know what struck me, I checked the weather and saw that it is going to be a beautiful morning. So, I decided to get up early and drive somewhere for sunrise photography. I setup an alarm for 5am, and went to sleep. At 5, I woke up and checked the weather again – and it said all cloudy. I was disappointed, but I said to myself, if I go back to sleep now, then I might miss an opportunity IF ANY. So, I got ready and drove to the Liberty State Park, only thing in my mind at that time was to take some pictures of the boats as I knew sun won’t show up today. When I reached at the spot, I thought let me check if the park is open or not, to my surprise it was open, and I drove to the main parking lot. By that time I could see some colors at the horizon but was not sure if I would see anything interesting. But, my gut said to go and check the Status of Liberty anyways. As soon as I set my camera to point to the statue, I see this extraordinary beams of sunlight behind the buildings on the left side of the statue. I haven’t seen anything like this before, and at least not with the Statue of Liberty for sure. What an amazing morning, 10 minutes of unobstructed view, 10 minutes of pure bliss, 10 minutes of pure luck, and a life time of happiness. Hope this story encourages you to enjoy every bit of your life, and to take some chances that would bring immense pleasure and happiness in your life.
